From 2008 to 2009, Eric was a Technical Writer for the United States Forest Service in the Lowman Ranger District of the Boise National Forest.

Since 2008, he has been a Project Manager/Wildlife Biologist for Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc.

Eric Hallingstad was a part of a unique research project in 2016 studying white-backed vultures in Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique, along with Greg Kaltenecker, Executive Director of the Intermountain Bird Observatory, and Dr. Marc Bechard, Director of the Raptor Research Center at Boise State University.  The project was highlighted on the Boise State University website.  Coverage and photos are available here:  https://focus.boisestate.edu/article/birds-eye-view-on-worldwide-learning/
